THE city’s eco school has scooped a major architecture award.
Sandal Magna Community Primary School, is among 97 winners in the UK and Europe, of a Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Award.
Headteacher Julia Simpson, said: “Our pupils, staff, parents and governors are absolutely delighted to see our exceptional school has been recognised for the high quality of its indoor and outdoor learning environment.”
The £6m new-build replaced the 119-year-old original school building and opened in September.
Leader of Wakefield Council, Coun Peter Box, said: “I am delighted that the innovative design of Sandal Magna School has been nationally recognised.”
