Elderly couple’s life savings snatched in Wakefield

An elderly couple have had their life savings snatched from their bedroom.

Police are appealing for information after the couple made the discovery at their home on Bleakley Lane in the Notton area of Wakefield.

At around 4.30pm yesterday (Wednesday, October 7) , a man called at their home to ask if they wanted some working carrying out.

The victims said no and the man left.

Later that evening, the couple found that their bedroom had been searched and their life savings had been stolen.

The suspect is described as being a white male, in his early 20s, of slim to medium build and around 5ft 8in tall.

He wore blue work trousers with braces and a blue top.

Det Insp Dave Rogerson, from Wakefield CID, said: “We are asking members of the public who saw a male matching this description, or a vehicle acting suspiciously in the Notton area, to contact the police and help us identify this man. Enquiries are ongoing.”
