Elderly woman dies after Garforth crash


An 82-year-old woman who was seriously injured in a crash in Garforth has died in hospital.

Patricia Taylor, from Garforth, died in Leeds General Infirmary yesterday.

She was seriously injured on the A63 Selby Road, Cliff Top, Garforth, at 8.35am on Saturday, October 17.

She had been waiting at a bus stop when a red Volkswagen Polo, which was heading towards Garforth from the Peckfield roundabout, left the carriageway to the nearside and crashed into the bus shelter she was waiting in.

The driver of the Polo, a 56-year-old man from the Selby area, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and was later bailed pending further enquiries. He remains on police bail and enquiries are ongoing by officers from West Yorkshire Police Major Collision Enquiry Team.
