A team of hairdressers has organised a village gala to raise money for charity.
En Route Hair and Beauty Salon, in Walton, has organised the family-friendly event which takes place this Sunday, in aid of Wakefield Hospice.
Salon manager Claire Timlin said: “A few of the staff here have had close family members looked after by the hospice so we wanted to do something to raise money.
“We’re really passionate about the cause and have been overwhelmed by the support of local people and businesses who have donated some fantastic prizes.”
The gala day, at Walton Primary School on The Grove, from 11am to 3pm, will kick off with a bake-off competition with prizes for the best cakes followed by a raffle.
There will also be games, stalls, a bouncy castle, a bar provided by the New Inn, live entertainment and the Holmes junior driving school will be giving demonstrations for people aged between 11 and 17 years old.
Entry is free for the event but donations are welcome
To enter into the Bake-off, people need to bring their cakes on Sunday between 10am and 12.30pm.
Cakes will be judged on appearance, creativity and taste. The winners will be announced at 2pm.
The top baker will win a cut and blow dry with an in-depth consultation and personalised home care card, sample products and a luxury hair spa treatment. The prize also includes a full set of Bio Sculpture overlays.
