Libaries across the Wakefield district will remain closed tomorrow due to snow

Wakefield Council confirmed that all buildings would be closed though services would still be available online.

Heavy snow is continuing to fall across the district and is causing disruption to a number of services.

The council said: "Every resource we have available to respond to this current weather situation has been deployed.

"Gritting teams are working on all priority routes and there are 12 ploughs currently out across the district. Snow wardens and parish councils have been provided with grit and are working in their communities.

"Additional resources have been allocated to respond to all enquiries.

"If you are able to clear pavements and areas around your own homes please make sure you do it safely. Your support and help is very much appreciated and enables us to focus on the priority routes.

"If you must travel, please be sure to clear your car of snow and ice and stick to main roads where possible."
