Express shortlisted for newspaper of the year award

The Wakefield Express has been shortlisted for Yorkshire Weekly Newspaper of the Year 2014 in this year’s O2 Media Awards.

And one of the senior staff from the Express Series has also been recognised, with Don Mort being shortlisted for Reporter of the Year for a series of investigative articles during the past 12 months.

The Express will be up against the Scarborough News and the Worksop Guardian, and the winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on June 26 at The Royal Armouries in Leeds. BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin will host the evening’s celebrations.

Bob Buiaroski, Capita O2 partnership director, said the awards were one of the most prestigious of their type in the UK.

He said: “We are delighted to sponsor these awards that will allow the fantastic work of even more regional journalists across Yorkshire to be showcased.”
