Family funday to help pay for little Sienna's treatment

The event at the Wheatsheaf pub in Stanley has been organised to help Eight-month-old Sienna Ryan.

Nine-month-old Sienna, who lives in Stanley with mum Danielle, dad Ashley and brother Kye, has septo-optic dysplasia.

The congenital condition which affects just one in 10,000 newborns and stops the optic nerves developing properly.

Sienna will have injections of synthetic hormones when she is older because her condition prevents the body from producing growth hormones.

Doctors have told the family her condition is not treatable.

But they are trying to raise £25,000 to take her to Thailand for specialist stem cell treatment which is not available in this country.

The treatment involves injecting stem cells to repair damaged nerves.

An anonymous donor has already pledged £10,000 and the family have been organising fundraising events.

The fun day will be held at the Wheatsheaf, on Lake Lock Road, in the village on Saturday, June 4.

There will be water zorbs, a bouncy castle and horse and cart rides at the event from 2pm until late.

A raffle and tombola will be held, and youngsters can enjoy a petting corner.

Raffle prizes have been donated by companies including Morrisons, B&M, and Thorntons.
