Sky, a two-year-old rottweiler, was stolen in the early hours of Wednesday, December 2 ,from her dog run at the Smawthorne Hotel in Castleford.

Owner Mick Robinson had been out walking his six-month-old rottweiler Stainton when the thieves struck.

They broke the padlock off the gate to the dog run, where Sky and Storm, a five-year-old German shepherd, were kept. Storm was left behind.

After discovering his pet had been stolen, Mr Robinson called the police and then set up a Facebook group called Get Sky Home, which has gained more than 2,500 members in just two weeks.

He said: “Me and my partner Kate are distraught. We cannot even think about Christmas yet.

“I work in a busy pub but I have not even put up any decorations because I am spending everyday going out to look for her. We just want her home.”

Mr Robinson, 46, set up the group after a similar campaign saw Murphy the husky reunited with his owner in February.

The dog’s disappearance sparked thousands to campaign for his return, which led him to be recognised by staff at an RSPCA shelter.

Mr Robinson said: “I hope that because it worked for them then it might work for us. The response online has been fantastic.”

Sky is black and tan with a full tail. She has been microchipped. Call Mr Robinson on 07947894681 or email Phoenix Pet Protectors, anonymously, on [email protected].
