Fire service plan to make Wakefield a safer city

The Wakefield District Action Plan 2016-2017 provides details of how fire crews and prevention officers will make the area a safer place to live and work.

Goals for the district include strengthening partnerships in order to identify high risk homes and businesses, form new partnerships to improve wellbeing of the most vulnerable and work alongside West Yorkshire Police and the Community Safety Partnership to drive down arson and road traffic collisions.

District Commander Tim Jones said: “The Wakefield district management team is committed to providing the local community with the best possible service. We will achieve this through the professionalism and commitment of crews and support staff, which is second to none. We will maintain this high standard by being proactive and innovative in our approach to their training and development. We look forward to another successful year of providing a first class service.”

Chief Fire Officer Simon Pilling said: “We continue to face significant challenges, not least of which is financial change. However, our determination to provide an efficient and effective fire and rescue service still remains as strong as ever.”

Coun Judith Hughes, Chair of West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority, said: “I am very proud that we are able to present such glowing accomplishments to the public and set out our plan for how we will continue to make West Yorkshire a safer place to live and work.
