Firefighters still at scene of Castleford fire

Firefighters are still at the scene of a huge blaze in Castleford town centre.

Crews were called to a three-storey building on Bradley Street at around 2.30pm yesterday (Sunday).

A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire affected around 80 per cent of the ground floor.

The building was used for furniture sales and by a taxi firm.

Firefighters from Castleford, Pontefract, Garforth and Rothwell attended the scene and specialist equipment was also used to tackle the blaze.

Crews are still damping down at the scene.
