The Hemsworth based business is opening its brewery tap on Kirkby Road, next to Hemsworth Hardware.

Brewer Dan Jones said: “We took on the lease of the former Londis Shop which has been empty for eight years. The shop was in a state of disrepair and we have spent the last seven weeks renovating it.”

It will open to the public at 3pm. Mr Jones said: “We will have six pumps on the bar and aim to stock three of our own beers and three guest ales.”

The brewery tap will also feature craft beers on keg, real cider, bottled beer from home and abroad, Prosecco and spirits.

Mr Jones added: “We will open on Friday and Saturday evenings and aim to have a slow cooker special available for anyone who fancies a bite to eat and will eventually expand to provide a range of snacks.”

There will also be a brewery on site and Mr Jones hopes to brew more often and to diversify his current range.

Hemsworth MP Jon Trickett said he was delighted to see the business going from strength to strength.

He said: “I was very pleased to hear that local award-winning Hamelsworde Brewery are moving into larger premises in Hemsworth. It is great to hear of the success of this small, local brewery and I wish them well for the future.”

Hamelsworde Brewery, on Longworth Road, was opened in April 2013 by Dan Jones.

He spent 15 years honing his craft as a home brewer.

The time spent perfecting recipes was rewarded when Colin Brown Ale won the award for Best Strong Beer at Doncaster Ale festival in it’s very first outing.

Other beers include a best bitter, Hemsworth Challenger and a blonde, Pacific Blonde.

Hamelsworde ales have appeared at beer festivals up and down the country.
