AN “exceptional” school nursery has been judged as outstanding across the board in a government inspection.
Rooks Nest Early Birds, at Rooks Nest Academy in Outwood, got top marks in all areas of an inspection by education watchdog Ofsted.
The inspector’s report, published this week, said children were happy, confident and well cared for at the before and after school nursery, on Rooks Nest Road.
The report said: “Children are extremely well-supported by staff, who are very skilled at encouraging them to extend their experiences and engage them well during their play.
“Children are free to choose from a wide range of resources which are provided, and independently access what is on offer.”
The nursery, which is managed by Veronica Saville, was rated as outstanding in 17 separate areas of the inspection on December 12.
Anne Butel, headteacher at Rooks Nest Academy, said: “I cannot praise the hard work and dedication of the staff enough.
“Mrs Saville and her team provide a professional childcare service for the pupils at Rooks Nest Academy and the wider community.”
