It will be full steam ahead when a model railway show comes to Pontefract later this month.
Normanton and Pontefract Railway Modellers Society (NPRMS) will be staging their 47th Annual Show at New College on Park Lane on January 30 and 31.
The event will have twenty fully working model railways covering the nostalgia of steam days right up to the colourful trains running on today’s railway system.
NPRMS chairman Mark Buckle said: “We try to provide a range of attractions, not just for model railway enthusiasts but also for people who want a family day out.”
Previous events have seen as many as 1,500 people come through the doors over the course of a weekend.
The weekend-long event will also include “how to” demonstrations from experienced modellers.
These include Charlie Shearn showing how to make realistic trees, while Bob Dawson will look a model buildings and Ruth Redgwick will be painting model figures.
The event will be open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, January 30 and from 10am to 4.30pm on Sunday, January 31. Admission is £5 for adults. There is free entry for accompanied children under 16.
The society exists to promote interest in modelling railways in various scales and eras.
