Families will get the chance to ‘clown around’ and have fun with their local emergency services at a gala day this weekend.

Face painting, clowns, bouncy castles, a mini Olympics and more are among the attractions planned for an Emergency Service Fun Day in Kettlethorpe on Saturday August 6.

The fun packed day will start from noon at the Standbridge Centre on Standbridge Lane, and will feature appearances from all three emergency services.

Music, food and drink are also on the card for the event as is an appearance from the SWT COPS, a group of enthusiasts who have American police vehicles and equipment and have appeared on TV.

Police mascots Detective Duck, PC Lockup and PCSO Staysafe will also be on hand to engage with children.

Alongside the fun, those attending will also be able to speak with their local officers about issues of note and get the latest crime prevention advice.

PC Raif Kurtovic of Wakefield Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Events such as these are a fantastic way for local officers to meet informally with our residents, and we’d heartily encourage families to come down see us and enjoy themselves.

“It’s the first fun day we’ve organised at Wakefield Rural NPT and I want to thank all our partners in the emergency services for attending.”

“Hopefully we’ll get the weather and everyone will have a great time.”

The family fun day will run between noon and 4pm at Standbridge Community Centre, Standbridge Lane, Kettlethorpe WF2 7ND.
