They then threatened and chased him through Shelley Park before grabbing him and hitting him with sticks.

They also stole his mobile phone during the attack which took place at around 5.15pm on Monday, November 10.

Det Con Mark Willetts, of Huddersfield CID, said: “This was a nasty attack against a child that happened at a busy time of the day.

“I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious or unusual to get in touch.

“It is likely that at 5.15pm someone was in the park at the time. Did you see a young boy being chased? Or a large group of male teenagers in the area? If so, please get in touch.”

The suspects are described as white and aged around 16. They were all wearing dark coloured neck scarves which most of them used to cover their faces. They also wore jeans with holes and rips in.
