Georgia is on a mission to raise money for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice – a place where she volunteers her time to help and has previously raised £1,100 through various fundraising initiatives.

When Redrow heard Georgia was looking for items to be used for a raffle they were only too keen to show their support. A basket packed with tasty treats was presented to Georgia, making an appealing prize as part of a raffle at the Ossett Gala that recently helped her to raise £467.

Patsy Aicken, sales director for Wakefield-based Redrow Homes (Yorkshire), said: “When we heard about the voluntary work Georgia does for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, which is not far from our Springfields development in Highburton, we were inspired to help her appeal with a raffle donation.

“Indeed, the Huddersfield-based hospice looks after families from across the whole of West Yorkshire, including Wakefield which is home to our Yorkshire offices and where we have other new homes developments; and Redrow has itself fundraised for Forget Me Not in the past.

“Georgia is a remarkable teenager and we salute her passion and enthusiasm to raise money and help such an amazing cause. What an example to us all.”

Discussing her appeal, Georgia said: “The reason I chose to help the hospice is because I know as a child how important it is to grasp every opportunity and have as much fun as we can. Just because of a condition or disability that affects a child’s life, it does not mean that they should put everything on hold or feel different – everyone is equal.

“I think the hospice provides phenomenal opportunities to make sure every second counts for that child and their families. It provides a fun, homelike place where children don’t feel like they are in a hospice, with posters and personal possessions adorning their bedrooms.

“I’d like to thank Redrow for their generous donation, which has helped raise further money to benefit the hospice.”

Ryan Grint, Community Fundraiser for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, added: “We couldn’t do what we do with the amazing efforts of volunteers like Georgia and the support of businesses like Redrow.

“Each year we need to raise £4 million to continue reaching out to more and more families who need our help and with just 4% of this funding coming from the government, the support from our local community really is vital.”
