Hand grenade found at a Wakefield home

A MAN who found a suspected hand grenade at his home was stopped by police as he drove it through the city centre last night.

Bomb disposal engineers were called to Northgate after the man, from Stanley, was stopped by police at about 7.45pm yesterday. The street was blocked off by a police cordon while the suspected grenade was investigated. But the device was found to be “not viable” by Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), meaning it did not pose any dangers. See Friday’s Express for more.
