Have your say on Wakefield Council’s plans for the future

People can view Wakefield Council’s plans for the future at a series of consultation events across the district over the next few weeks.

The council’s local plans include the possible redevelopment of Ossett Town’s Infield Stadium, improvements to Southgate in Pontefract, developments at Aire Street, Bridge Street, Albion Street and Powell Street in Castleford, the former Kwik Save site on Wilson Street, Featherstone and Hill Top, Knottingley.

People can view the plans, which are part of the Local Development Framework (LDF) at Wakefield One, Burton Street until Wednesday, November 25.

There will also be exhibitions held at libraries across the district, including Hemsworth Library, Market Street and South Elmsall Library, Barnsley Road, on Saturday, October 24.

People will also be able to view the plans at Horbury Library, Wakefield Road and Ossett Library, Station Road, on Saturday, October 31 from 10am until 2pm.

They will also be on show at Featherstone and Normanton libraries on Saturday, November 7 and Castleford and Pontefract libraries on Saturday, November 14.

All sessions will run from 10am until noon.

Coun Denise Jeffery said: “The LDF is an important document which provides a planing blueprint for the whole district.

“The public’s comments at the consultation events are really important in shaping our future plans.”

All councils are required to have LDFs in place.

They provide guidelines for decision-making on new developments and planning applications.
