AN Olympic gymnast had children in a spin when he leaped in to school for an inspirational talk.

Former gold medalist Craig Heap visited pupils at Crofton Academy to launch the Be The Best You Can Be programme.

It is part of an initiative by 21st Century Legacy charity, established to inspire youngsters in the build up to and beyond the 2012 London Games.

Mr Heap spent the day with year eight pupils.

Sarah Rowe, year eight group manager, said “Craig was fantastic and a real inspiration to our pupils who thoroughly enjoyed his visit”

Former Olympic and Commonwealth Games gymnast Mr Heap has represented England on more than 100 occasions, including the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and is a former gold medal winner at the Commonwealth Games.

The aim of his visit was to encourage youngsters to develop their own personal strengths in sport and learning.
