Wakefield Council is working with YES Energy Solutions to provide loft insulation, cavity wall insulation and heating system upgrades.

And people could be given help towards the cost of the work, which would cut fuel bills.

YES has funding through the government’s eco-scheme that can cover or contribute towards the cost, and residents who receive certain benefits could also qualify for a grant to help keep their homes warm.

Coun Denise Jeffery, cabinet member for economic growth and housing, said: “With the cold season upon us, we want to make sure everyone stays well over the winter period.

“This scheme will help residents to stay warm whilst saving energy and reducing costs.

“If you, or someone you know, is struggling to keep their home warm please get in touch to see what support we can offer.”

Those who are not eligible through the YES Energy Solutions Scheme, but own their own home, may be eligible for an energy savers loan through the council.

It is an interest-free loan which can be repaid over five years. Those who are not on benefits, but on lower income, may still qualify.
