Hollywood actor Russell Crowe linked with Leeds United bid

Hollywood star Russell Crowe has hinted that he may consider launching a bid to buy Leeds United.

The New Zealand-born actor - who supports the Elland Road club - caused a social media frenzy when he replied to a Leeds fan on Twitter.

Leeds fan Sam Wild tweeted Crowe, 50, urging him to buy the club.

The Gladiator actor replied: “Anybody else think this is a good idea?”

The response has been retweeted more than 1,400 times.

Crowe is already the co-owner of Australian rugby league side South Sydney Rabbitohs, who beat St Helens at the weekend to win the World Club Challenge.

Italian businessman Massimo Cellino, who bought Leeds last year, is currently serving a Football League ownership ban after being convicted of tax evasion by a Sardinian court.
