Horse rescued by firefighters

A horse was rescued from the Calder and Hebble Navigation this morning.

Fire crews received a report at around 6.15am that an animal was stuck in the canal off Broad Cut Road, in Calder Grove.

Specialist rescue units from Cleckheaton and appliances from Wakefield were still in attendance at the incident at 8am.

A fire service spokesman said they were waiting for a vet to attend the scene.
