Hundreds raised to help bring JJ home

More than £700 has been raised so far after donations flooded in to a Facebook page set up to help bring the tot, better known as JJ, home from hospital.

Two-year-old JJ was left paralysed following a head-on car accident on Hemsworth Bypass in March.

He suffered seven severe spinal injuries as a result of the incident and has remained in Leeds General Infirmary ever since.

His devoted parents have barely left his bedside and are desperate to bring their little boy home.

They are aiming to raise £10k to buy specialist equipment that will support him to sit upright and give him back some independence.

Mum, Katy Michalowska, 27 said: “It is absolutely awful seeing JJ in hospital every day. I just want him to be able to have his own independence and play like all the other children.

“He needs constant care and support for his back and we currently don’t have the equipment we need to be able to give him that.”

The Express is backing the family’s fundraising bid and is calling on the close-knit South Elmsall community to give its support.

Mark Bradley, editor, said: “You can only imagine the anguish this family has been through in the last four months and as a newspaper we want to do all we can to try to bring them back together again soon.”
