A dog rescue centre needs to raise £3,000 to complete work on its kennels which will help them to care for more unwanted pets.

Based at Oakenshaw Boarding Kennels, 8 Below Husky Rescue looks after more than 30 dogs at any one time.

But with more animals being abandoned the charity wants to create more kennels and if the money is raised they will be able to house more than 44 dogs.

The money will be used to complete some roofing work and finish the interior.

CraigMarsden, owner, said: “We do a lot of work with rehoming huskies through Battersea Dogs home.

“But it’s not just huskies we look after.

“At the moment we have had to concentrate on fundraising for two of our dogs who are poorly.

“One of them has cancer and the other had to have emergency surgery because she had swallowed a rubber doorstop prior to coming into rescue.

“Instead of raising the money to complete the kennels we have had to raise money for their vet bills.

“But raising this money for extra kennels would make such a huge difference.”

At the moment the kennels’ phone line is down, so if you want to contact them, call 07739 095142.
