Hundreds of runners took part in the Upton Fun Run on Sunday weeks after it was threatened with being cancelled.
New organisers had to be found for the event, which has been held annually for around 30 years, after the previous organisers stepped down.
And despite being run slightly later in the year than usual, more than 320 competitors still took part in the four-mile course on Sunday morning, which started and finished at the Brookside Club on Tom Wood Ash Lane.
Coun Martyn Ward, for Ackworth, North Elmsall and Upton, said the event was a great success
He said: “Considering it was last minute to get 320 runners was really pleasing.
“It was really well managed and everybody ran well, from kids to people over 60.
“The day was really enjoyable and it had a nice feeling.
“It shows there’s an appetite for it from runners, volunteers and spectators.”
