THE former Sainsbury’s store on Ings Road could soon be given a new lease of life.

A spokesman for the company confirmed yesterday that it is in talks with one retailer, and has had interest from others.

The building next to Homebase has been empty since the supermarket moved to a new store at the new £210m Trinity Walk shopping centre last month.

It is being marketed as a whole or split unit.

New stores are opening at Trinity Walk all the time, and managers say they have had a lot of interest in the units that are still to let.

A new Asda Living store will open there in July, and the company has just finished recruiting a team of around 60 people from over 1,000 applications.

It will sell everything from George clothing, to home products, technology, baby ranges and will have a cafe.
