The Ridings shopping centre even had live reindeer in the mall for children to pet and feed. And earlier in the month about 60 pensioners from Kettlethorpe were treated to a traditional Christmas lunch at Hendal Primary School. The event was paid for by a £500 donation from Asda. The meal was served by children from the school.

Sandal Methodist Church has also held its third Christmas Tree Festival. The two-day event, which takes place every two years, features a church lined with Christmas trees, which have been decorated by various church groups, from the toddlers to Men’s Circle.

Nursery children and Rainbows and Brownies sang at the event.
