JOBS are under threat at struggling retailer JJB Sports after it announced it had called in the administrators.
The company’s shop at the city’s Westgate Retail Park is one of 180 UK-wide which is expected to be sold off after JJB was hit by a slump in sales.
The retail chain said it was appointing administrators from KPMG to undertake a potential sale of its assets.
Its stores, which employ 4,000 staff around the UK, would remain open in the meantime, JJB said.
The company closed its branch on Kirkgate, Wakefield, in March 2010 after running into financial problems.
On Monday, its shares were suspended after they slumped by 93 per cent since the start of the year.
