Karate Kids set an outlandish new world record
The before, during and after images reveal how 33 youngsters from the Martial Arts Academy in Moorthorpe emptied water from 2,023 plastic bottles, crushed and then recycled them in three minutes and 59 seconds.
Owner Eamon Timmons was inspired to start the record – which has never been attempted before – after seeing two young lads “laughing their heads off” while splashing each other with crushed-up bottles.

“We’ve been saving plastic bottles for the last eight months. It’s a new craze we’re starting.
“The event was amazing, one out of a million. You couldn’t do it again.
“There were loads of people there and it was wicked. We got awfully wet.
“It was just so different for the students.”
The wet and wild event at the Barnsley Road academy in South Elmsall also raised funds for dementia sufferers, but the total is not yet known.
