Kellingley miners will march in unity to mark end of deep coal mining era
Miners at Kellingley Colliery will march through the streets of Knottingley today, a day after they finished their final shift.
The workers left the pit for the last time yesterday, marking the end of deep coal mining in the UK.
The farewell procession will leave Knottingley Town Hall at around 12.30pm and pass through to Kellingley Miners’ Welfare Club, on Marine Villa Road.
Up to 2,000 people are expected to turn out.
