HENDAL PRIMARY NEWS: Christmas parties have been held all this week and Santa Claus visited. Even though he is so busy, he brought presents for every class. foundation stage children performed their concert Christmas Eve in the Toy Shop to parents and friends on Wednesday. The carol concert was enjoyed by children, parents, friends and neighbours yesterday afternoon. The school wishes everyone a merry Christmas and a happy new year.  

DANE ROYD NEWS: This week children have enjoyed their Christmas parties, Christmas dinner, carols by moonlight and a performance of Peter Pan. New children starting nursery in January visited this week.

CHRISTMAS LUNCH: The Christmas lunch held in Hendal Primary School last Tuesday was a great success,  Kettlethorpe tenants and residents supplied the funding and organised the meal,  60  elderly residents applied to join them on the day, and were entertained and served their lunch by the pupils of the school. Coun Monica Graham would like to thank all who supported and helped out on the day.

AGED WELFARE: Kettlethorpe Aged Welfare celebrated its Christmas lunch at the Duke of York restaurant in Shelf, last week. Gerald Wells then presented each member with a Christmas gift of £5 each, followed by a big raffle and the afternoon was rounded off by the ever popular games of bingo. Beryl Emmett, chairman, would like to thank her neighbours for the kind donations made to the club to raise funds, especially Ian and Lorraine.

HALL GREEN CAROL SERVICE: Hall Green Community Association was the host of a carol service held last Sunday. The choir of St James’ Church, Chapelthorpe, led the singing and everyone enjoyed this festive occasion

ST JAMES’ NATIVITY: St James’ Church, Chapelthorpe, is looking forward to its Sunday school’s nativity play at the parish eucharist on Sunday at 10.30am.

CHRISTMAS SERVICES: A Christingle service will be held at St James’ Church at 5.30pm on Christmas Eve. All proceeds going to the Children’s Society. The first eucharist of Christmas will be held at 11pm at St James’ on Christmas Eve. The parish eucharist will be celebrated at St John’s Church, Calder Grove, on Christmas Day at 10am.
