Young people who are looking to gain real life work experience need to sign up for the Wakefield Works scheme.

The deadline has been extended to Monday, August 25,to give as many 16 to 25-year-olds as possible a chance to take part.

The scheme, backed by the Express and which is now in its third year, offers candidates the chance to get career advice and guidance as well as to sign up for employment or work experience placements.

During the first week of September, businesses will open their doors to candidates and there will be a jobs fair offering apprenticeships and job placements. A wide variety of employers from across the district have signed up.

Young people will be able to speak directly to senior managers and leaders, find out what it’s like to work in their sectors and discover what skills and qualifications are needed to work in the industry.
