Letter - It’s a bone-shaker of a cycle ride

Having recently taken up a ride-to-work scheme with my work place at Napier Brown in Normanton, I was horrified to find that the worse piece of road on my seven mile journey is in fact the strip of road coming down past the Smiths Arms towards the bottom of Westgate.

In fact it was so bad my seat worked its way loose. Talk about a bone-shaker of a ride.

There are several potholes and undulations that feel really unsafe to ride on.

I must say there are some lovely nature sights going over Chantry Bridge, with the pair of swans and the heron which waits at the bottom of the weir. A bit further into my journey across Heath Common there are a couple of foals roaming about also.
