THE letter: ‘Tolerated as the idiots’ (Express, July15) misses completely the point of David Cameron’s valid ‘assertion of authority’ over whingeing military top brass. The writer however is correct when he says we command no respect across the world - how could we after years of Blair, Mandleson, Brown and assorted cronies?
If we are punching above our weight financially as suggested, then one option is to let Scotland have their independence.
Their freeing of the Lockerbie bomber, a Libyan, destroyed further our respect in the wider world.
The billions saved by jettisoning Scotland could then be invested in reinventing ourselves as Mr Saberton appears to suggest.
