Letter - We’re inviting people to have their say

In response to Mr Holmes’ letter (Express March 8), asking for an update on the proposed relocation of West Yorkshire Sport and Social Club, we held a public consultation event at Walton Village Hall this week to gather residents’ views on the proposed application and can reassure readers that we will be considering these views in order to put forward the best possible scheme for the site.

We are also inviting people to have their say again regarding the proposed residential development on Walton Lane on April 18, 4.30pm - 8pm, at Sandal Endowed Junior School.

We recognise the importance of new sports facilities to the local community which is why we plan to relocate them not take them away. A planning application is being prepared for new sports facilities at Shay Lane including tennis courts, parking, bowls, clubhouse, five-a–side football, rugby, cricket, senior and junior football facilities.

We will continue to work with the club to bring forward an alternative facility within a short distance from the existing site so that the local community can still benefit from local sports facilities.
