AS the new chairman of the board of directors at Wakefield District Sight Aid, I felt I must write publicly to thank my predecessor, Douglas Dale.

For many years he has worked voluntarily for the society (then called West Riding Blind Association), in many capacities, too many to mention but none the less very important.

For more than 10 years he has been the chairman and has represented the association at many levels and on many occasions. He has agreed to stay on as a board member of our new limited company, for which we are most grateful.

On behalf of the board, staff and members of Wakefield District Sight Aid, I would like to state how grateful we are for his hard work, loyalty and dedication over the years.
