Motorists can expect two weeks of delays on a major route in and out of the city, starting today(Saturday).
Lanes will be closed on Denby Dale Road, between the roundabout at junction 39 of the M1 and the Asdale Road roundabout, while resurfacing work is carried out.
A 10mph speed limit will be also be in place on the stretch.
And Wakefield Council said the work was expected to take about two weeks to complete.
Lanes will also be closed further down the road at off-peak times while a new cable is installed.
The closures will affect a 300m stretch between Thornes Mill and Denby Dale Sub Station.
The work is not expected to be complete until Monday, June 10.
