Make your vote count at today's Wakefield Council elections
Polling stations across the district will be open until 10pm today.
Those who want to cast their vote should attend the station listed on their polling card.

Hide AdEighty candidates will contest 21 seats in the council elections, one in each of the district’s wards.
The seats include that of current council leader Peter Box, which will be contested in the Altofts and Whitwood ward.
Voters will also elect a West Yorkshire PCC during this round of elections.
A list of candidates who are standing in the and council elections can be found on the Wakefield Council website, along with more details on how to vote.

Votes will be counted at Thornes Park Athletics Stadium and the result is expected to be revealed on Friday.
The count is not open to the public and the stadium is now closed until 8.30am on Saturday May 7.
Aspire Fitness Scheme members can use Sun Lane Leisure Centre or any other council run leisure facilities.

The parties of which candidates are standing are different in each ward, but include: Labour Party, The Conservative Party, Liberal Democrats, UK Independence Party (UKIP), Green Party, Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition and Yorkshire First, as well as Independent candidates.
