Man, 48, arrested after death of woman following Sikh temple incident in Huddersfield

A 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after the death of a woman in Huddersfield yesterday (Thursday).

West Yorkshire Police were called to reports of an incident between a 70-year-old woman and another woman, aged 46, at the Guru Nanak Sikh Temple, in Prospect Street, Springwood, at just after 1.10pm.

Police believe that after the incident the 46-year-old woman made off and was “detained” by the man, 48, who has since been arrested.

A police spokesman said: “The 46-year-old woman then became unwell and was treated by paramedics but she was pronounced deceased.”

The other woman involved in the earlier altercation has been taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for treatment.
