Man attacked in Pontefract pub

A man suffered a serious facial injury during a vicious assault in a Pontefract town centre pub.

The 41-year-old was punched in the Horse Vaults pub, Horsefair, at around 11.55pm on Monday.

He collapsed and fell to the floor before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

Detectives said the man, from Pontefract, had been talking to a group of men in the pub before the assault. One of the group then punched him in the face.

Police have now issued CCTV images of a man they want to speak to.

Detective Inspector Dave Rogerson, of Wakefield CID, said: “We are continuing to investigate this serious assault which has left the victim with a significant facial injury.

“We are keen to speak to the man pictured in connection with the offence. We believe he is local. I would ask anyone who can help identify them to contact Wakefield CID on 101.
