A MAN died after collapsing at a Pontefract nightclub in the early hours of Sunday.

Police officers were called to reports a 23-year-old man, from Pontefract, had collapsed at a Big Fellas nightclub on Beastfair at around 12.15am yesterday.

He was taken to Wakefield’s Pinderfields hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police say they have investigated but are not treating his death as suspicious.

In a separate incident at around 10pm on Saturday, police were called to reports of a disturbance involving a “number of people” on Cornmarket in the town.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
