Man found dead on tracks near Dewsbury station named

Mr Marsden, 78. of Ossett, was not hit by the train which stopped when he was found, a British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said.

The 8.12am Dewsbury to Leeds train had just left Dewsbury railway station on December 31.

Paramedics were called but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rail services throughout North Kirklees and Morley were affected throughout the morning.

Investigations are underway to determine whether the man was hit by an earlier train.

A file is being prepared for the coroner.
