Man remains critically injured after serious accident on Doncaster Road

The 37-year-old man, from Pontefract, remains in a critical condition in Leeds General Infirmary after the crash on Doncaster Road in Crofton, at around 1.10pm on Tuesday.

Police said he was involved in a collision with a BMW which was travelling in the opposite direction near M Toft & Sons.

A Vauxhall Corsa, Ford Focus and Renault Megane were also involved in the accident.

The road was closed for around six hours following the accident to allow police and emergency services to attend.

The motorcyclist was treated at the scene and taken to hospital.

A 29-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving has been released on police bail.

PC Dave Robson, of the Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support Team East, said: “Enquiries are ongoing into what has been a very serious incident on the district’s roads.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who saw the collision or the behaviour of either vehicle before it took place.
