ANTHONY Krievens got more than he bargained for when he sunk his teeth into his thin and crispy double pepperoni pizza.
Mr Krievens, of Duke of York Avenue, Portobello, had to spit out an inch-long black screw after taking a bite.
He had bought the frozen pizza from Iceland, on Kirkgate, with his wife Wendy the previous day, and was looking forward to eating it as he got ready for work.
Mr Krievens, 43, said: “I put a chunk in my mouth and there was something hard in there. It turned out to be a screw.
“It is beyond belief. It could have hurt me – think what could have happened if it had been a child.”
Mr Krievens complained to the store the following day.
And Iceland customer care manager Christine Jones has now apologised on behalf of the supermarket chain.
She said: “We are very sorry to hear that Mr Krievens has found a foreign body in one of our products.
“We would like to investigate the matter further and will forward the foreign body on to our suppliers for a full investigation.”
