Man viciously assaulted by youths outside his home

The man’s wife spotted an intruder in their front garden at their home on Milnthorpe Lane, Portobello, sometime between 12.30am and 1am on Sunday.

When he went to investigate he saw three youths stood by a fire on waste ground next to his house.

The man asked the teenagers what they were doing, who then assaulted him and fled the scene.

The victim was taken to Pinderfields Hospital with serious facial injuries.

PC Rob Dovey, of Wakefield District Police, said: “This was a serious incident in which the victim has been subjected to a cowardly and vicious attack.

“He has suffered some significant facial injuries as a result.

“We believe one of these teenage males was wearing a grey hooded top and all three were of normal build. One may have been riding a bike.”
