Marathon was '˜incredible'

Jonathan Gratton tackled the Virgin London Marathon in support of a member of his Barnsley running club who has epilepsy.

The 44-year-old managed to complete the 26.2-mile run in 4 hours and 15 minutes and raised more than £250 for the charity, which supports people living with epilepsy and their families all over the UK.

Mr Gratton said: “A friend at my running club, Katie Lee, has epilepsy and uses her focus on running to help her live with the condition.

She is an inspiration, and has been supported by Epilepsy Action.

“I wanted to do something to help. Running the London Marathon was absolutely incredible.“

Xanthe Hopkinson, of Epilepsy Action, said: “Congratulations to Jonathan on such a fantastic achievement.

“The atmosphere on the day was electric and all of our runners have collectively helped us to raise more than £63,800 to support people with epilepsy.

“Their incredible efforts are hugely appreciated and mean we can continue to be there when people need us most.”

The charity is already taking applications for its 2018 London Marathon team, and it also has places for marathons in Edinburgh, Berlin, Paris and Bournemouth.
