Meeting to clamp down on crime in Knottingley

Police in Knottingley will hold a special meeting tonight (Monday) in the hope of clamping down on crime and anti-social behaviour in the town.

Officers from Pontefract and Knottingley neighbourhood police team (NPT) will be at Morrison’s supermarket, Marine Villa Road, from 8pm.

They will discuss possibly setting up a second junior neighbourhood watch group in Knottingley as well as the idea of having a skate park in the area.

It follows graffiti (pictured) and reports of antisocial behaviour around the supermarket and Hill Top.

A spokesman said: “The form of behaviour shown should not be condoned and that by hosting this meeting positive actions can be taken to prevent offences like this from occurring again in the future.

“Our officers will wait at the entrance to direct people in the right direction should they wish to attend.”
