Micro brewery set to open its first pub

A pub that closed earlier this year is to open its doors again under the guidance of a micro brewery.

The Star at Sandal has been leased by Morton Collins Brewing Company, which is based just five miles away at Ryhill.

The old pub restaurant on Standbridge Lane had struggled in recent years before finally closing.

But a deal has now been thrashed out with the owners of the premises and the brewery directors, Gerald Morton and Sam Collins, to serve their own beers.

Mr Morton said: “We just hope we can create a nice atmosphere and have a nice old-fashioned pub.”

The pub opens today, Friday, December 16 at midday.
