Minster Law's Wakefield worker to tackle Mount Snowdon for Zambian clinic

Amanda Parkinson, who is based at the company’s Wakefield office, will tackle the Watkin Path - the most physically demanding route up the highest mountain in Wales - at the end of the month.

She will then head to Velocity, where she’ll experience speeds of up to 80mph on Europe’s highest and fastest zip line.

Miss Parkinson, 26, is raising funds for a new £160,000 medical centre, which is being funded by Minster Law’s parent company BGL. She has already raised more than £3,500, smashing her target of £2,000.

She said: “This is as much a personal challenge as it is for me to help raise funds towards building the new medical centre. We are incredibly lucky in the UK to have fantastic healthcare services, and often take them for granted. There isn’t the same luxury in Zambia. My mother was recently very ill and, without local healthcare, she wouldn’t be with us today. I know my fundraising will change the lives of the entire Kapiri community and that is something I really want to be a part of.”

Miss Parkinson will travel to Zambia in June to view the facility, which will have an outpatient clinic, HIV testing and pharmacy as well as a maternity unit. She will be joined by fellow Minster Law colleagues Stuart Hanley and Jamie Lyons as well as 17 other BGL Group employees.
