Mirfield murder accused in court

TWO men have denied murdering Mirfield man Joshua Hirst.

Joe Church and Nadeem Rashid formally entered not guilty pleas at Leeds Crown Court this morning.

The pair stand accused of killing Mr Hirst, 20, on August 3 this year.

They also deny having a knife in Grove Street, Mirfield, on the same day.

Church, 21, of Redlands Close, Mirfield, and Rashid, 21, of Lapwing View, Horbury, were remanded into custody until their trial on January 16.

A third man accused of playing a part in Mr Hirst’s murder and possessing a knife is due to enter pleas at the court next Friday.

Aaron Smith, 18, of Saville Street, Emley, is also expected to plead not guilty to the charges.
